India’s first woman cybercrime investigator, Dr. Pattathil Dhanya Menon

Dhanya Menon found the job of her dreams. From the business development manager and turning her life path towards a full-time cybercrime investigator. It was genuinely accidental that she attended a day workshop on cybercrime investigation, in Kochi, in the year 2004. That was the day when she felt somewhere inside her that she had finally found her career direction.

Dhanya finished her Diploma in Cyber Crime from the Asian School of Cyber Law at Pune. Her Bachelor's degree in Computing from British Columbia University, Canada, helped her in gaining a depth of knowledge of Cyber Crime. While pursuing her diploma, she organized workshops on cybercrime awareness for different educational institutions like schools, colleges, and police forces in different states of India. After the completion of her diploma, she further joined as a visiting faculty for the Asian School of Cyber Law. In the year 2004-to 2006, Dhanya completely indulged in her awareness programs for various organizations. The major focus was on the police force of Kerala state.

In the year 2007, Dhanya completed her Post Graduate Diploma in Cyber Crime from ICFAI and a Cybercrime Investigation course from the Asian School of Cyber Law and was a full-time Cybercrime investigator. She was chosen as an associate of the Cybercrime Investigation Team of the Indian Government.

Dhanya was awarded the ‘First Women Achievers’ Awards, organized by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India. She also got selected by Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi, Union Minister of Women & Child Development for the honor of being ‘India’s first woman Cybercrime Investigator’ in the year 2017.

Later she opened her own Cybercrime Investigation unit. The Managing Director of Avanzo Cyber Security Solutions, located at Thrissur. A few of the high-profile cases she handled are:

Consultant in formulating Security Policy for Corporates.
Conduct Cyber legal Audit (IT Act) & I S Audit for banks.
Provide valuable Techno-legal remedies for Corporates, government organizations, and Investigation Departments.
Conduct Security Audit as per ISO 27001 and recommend certification.

Dhanya Menon is also one of the most talented and trained Kuchipudi Dancers. She has presented her dance form on various stages across India and abroad.
